The 2001 Buffalo Bills season was the team’s forty second season. Wade Phillips was relieved of his duties as coach and replaced by a member of Tennessee Titans coaching staff, Gregg Williams. In the aftermath of the Buffalo Bills quarterback controversy, Doug Flutie signed a contract with the San Diego Chargers.
