Adam Green (born May 28, 1981 in Mount Kisco, New York) is an American singer-songwriter.

Green's off-kilter style has achieved a moderate college radio following in the United States and enjoys increasing popularity in different European countries, particularly Germany.^[1][2][3]

Green attended Emerson College for one semester in 1998 before leaving to concentrate on his music, going on to co-found the anti folk group The Moldy Peaches with Kimya Dawson.

In 2004 The Moldy Peaches went on hiatus and both Green and Dawson embarked on solo careers.

Green released several albums on Rough Trade Records. Among his better known songs are "Jessica" (about singer Jessica Simpson), "Novotel", "Friends of Mine", "Dance with Me", "Carolina" and "Emily", and, in Britain, his cover of The Libertines track "What a Waster".

Prior to Jacket Full of Danger in 2006, all of Green's albums had been released on the 22nd of the month. His latest album was released on March 18th, 2008 and is titled Sixes & Sevens. Titles include "Morning After Midnight", "Twee Twee Dee", and "Drowning Head First", the latter a duet between Green and his girlfriend.^[4]

In January 2008, The Moldy Peaches began having a resurgence in popularity, due to their music being included in the hit indie film Juno. Most notably, a duet between Adam Green and Kimya Dawson, The Moldy Peaches song "Anyone Else But You" was featured in the film, and also in a scene which features the film's lead actors, Michael Cera and Ellen Page performing the song together. The soundtrack album reached #1 on the Billboard album chart on its third week of release.

Adam's father, Mark, is an accomplished neurologist specializing in migraines, and has written two books on the subject.

Adam's brother Joel, an astronomer, has appeared as an accompanying musician on several recordings.^[5]

In Germany journalists often note that his great-grandmother, Felice Bauer, was engaged to Franz Kafka, who was born in Prague but wrote in German; her family fled the Nazis in the late 1930s and wound up in New York.^{[citation needed]}

Green is a good friend of musician Carl Barât, appearing in a documentary with him in 2005, following the pair on a night out in London, for the European television culture channel Arte.^[6]

Adam also did a cover of the song 'What a waster' by The libertines, this can be heard on the 'Babyshambles sessions' album

In 2007, Austin, Texas country singer-songwriter Kelly Willis covered Adam's "Teddy Boys" for her album Translated from Love.^[7]

On 27 March 2008 he was guest on the German TV show TV total. He was drunk and sat down on the knees of Stefan Raab, tried to kiss him and tumbled through the show. Furthermore he threw a bottle of beer on the floor, fortunately hitting nobody in the audience.^[8]

Adam appeared with his mother, Leah, on an episode of Cash Cab, which aired originally in the United States on Thursday, April 10th, 2008.^[9]

Early in 2008, according to Ben Kweller's Twitter, Adam married his girlfriend Loribeth Capella, although he's since announced through his blog that he's getting a divorce (December 2nd).^[10]

Recorded an episode of RocKwiz in Australia alongside Toni Childs, with whom he sang "Heatwave" by Martha and the Vandellas. He was clearly under the influence^{[citation needed]} throughout the episode, and ended up almost falling over Childs and into the crowd during the performance. Recorded at the Esplanade Hotel in Melbourne on 9 December 2008.
