The Damara Tern (Sternula balaenarum) is a species of tern in the Sternidae family.

It breeds in western South Africa, Namibia and Angola. Non-breeding birds migrate north reaching Benin, Cameroon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria and Togo.

Its natural habitats are shallow seas, sandy shores, and coastal saline lagoons. It is threatened by habitat loss.
