David Bohnett

David C. Bohnett (born April 2, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American philanthropist and technology entrepreneur.

David C. Bohnett is the Chairman of the David Bohnett Foundation,[1] a non-profit, grant-making organization with the stated goal of "improving society through social activism." In 1994 he along with John Rezner co-founded GeoCities, an Internet-based media and e-commerce company, publicly traded on NASDAQ and subsequently acquired by Yahoo! Inc. In 1998, he was ranked #16 on Time Digital's list of Cyber Elite.[2]
Along with GeoCities, Bohnett, has had significant involvement with a number of web ventures, including NetZero, Stamps.com, LowerMyBills, Gamesville, PlanetOut Inc., MediaVast, and Xdrive. He currently serves as CEO of OVGuide, a company funded by his venture firm[3]. He also manages a portfolio of investments through his investment company, Baroda Ventures,[4] and sits on the boards of several civic, philanthropic[5], and privately held ventures.
Bohnett received his MBA in finance from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business, and a BS in business administration from the University of Southern California. In addition, he has lectured at the Marshall School of Business at USC, and was named a Regent’s Lecturer at the University of California, Los Angeles. He and his partner, radio and television personality, Tom Gregory[6], live in Beverly Hills, California.

As per the organization's mission statement, "David Bohnett and the David Bohnett Foundation are committed to improving society through social activism. We pursue our mission by providing funding, state-of-the-art technology and technical support to innovative organizations and institutions that, in addition to meeting our funding guidelines, share our vision."
"CyberCenters" are among the more notable projects of the foundation. In 1998 David Bohnett provided the funding for the creation of a CyberCenter at the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center to offer educational, research, and recreational opportunities to the local gay and lesbian community via access to the Internet. The CyberCenter was soon the most popular destination at the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center and has provided a well designed 'blue-print' for more than 50 successful facilities nationwide.
