1st Earl of Glasgow.
The title Earl of Glasgow was bestowed on David Boyle, Lord Boyle, one of the commissioners who negotiated the Treaty of Union uniting the Kingdom of England and the Kingdom of Scotland into the United Kingdom of Great Britain.
The titles held by the Earl are: Viscount of Kelburn (created 1703), Lord Boyle of Kelburn, Stewartoun, Cumbrae, Finnick, Largs and Dalry (1699), Lord Boyle of Stewartoun, Cumbraes, Fenwick, Largs and Dalry (1703) and Baron Fairlie (1897). The earldom and all subsidiary titles are in the Peerage of Scotland, except that the barony of Fairlie is in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.
Between 1815 and 1890 the Earls of Glasgow also held the title of Baron Ross in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.
The Earl of Glasgow is the hereditary Clan Chief of Clan Boyle.
The family seat is Kelburn Castle in Ayrshire, Scotland.
