Football League Championship Manager of the Month

The Football League Championship Manager of the Month award is a prize of recognition given to association football managers in the Football League Championship, the second tier of English football. The award is announced in the first week of the following month. It is said to have a curse as its recipients often start a bad run after winning the award. It was first awarded in the 2004-05 season when the Football League First Division became the Football League Championship.

According to Football League sponsors Coca Cola, "The decision to present the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month awards was made by the Coca-Cola Awards panel headed by Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara, former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, John Barnwell, Chief Executive, League Managers Association and Steve Cumming, Head of Sponsorship, Coca-Cola Great Britain."^[1]

Billy Davies and Neil Warnock have both won the managerial award on four separate occasions since it was first awarded in August 2004. Davies won the award twice with Preston North End in the 2005-06 season and a further two times with Derby County when they won promotion the following season. Warnock won the award as manager of Sheffield United between their spell in the Premier League.
