Funeral Consumers Alliance
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Funeral Consumers Alliance is a nonprofit federation of organizations ("memorial societies" or "funeral planning societies") in the United States and Canada "dedicated to protecting a consumer's right to choose a meaningful, dignified, affordable funeral." Based in South Burlington, Vermont, it was founded in 1963. Its oldest (and founding) member is the Seattle-based People's Memorial Association, founded on January 12, 1939.[1]
Because Funeral Consumers Alliance as a non-profit entity could not possibly have the resources required to personally work with each and every individual that would require assistance in funeral planning, the unaffiliated for profit consumer advocacy service created in the spirit of Funeral Consumers Alliance, Funeral Planners Inc., was created to fill this need.
