Germain "Kemy" Agustien (born 20 August 1986) is a Dutch footballer currently playing for AZ. Born in Tilburg, he began his career with home-town club Willem II, and signed for AZ in 2006.[1]

He was loaned to Roda JC in the 2006–07 season to gain more first team experience. An adaptable player, capable of playing anywhere in midfield, his preferred position is as one of two central midfielders.[1][2] A regular in the U-21 national team, he was left out of the Dutch Olympic Games football squad selected for Beijing.

He joined English Championship club Birmingham City in July 2008 on a season loan, with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the 2008–09 season for a fee of €2 million.[3] He made his first-team debut in the League Cup defeat at Southampton on 26 August 2008,[4] and played his first match in the Football League four days later in a 1–1 draw at Norwich City.[5] Having missed pre-season training because of a hernia operation, he did not adapt immediately to the pace and physicality of English football.[2][6] He played 20 games in all competitions, but the second half of his season was dogged by injury. Birmingham manager Alex McLeish felt unable to justify spending the £2 million asking price to make the loan deal permanent, so Agustien returned to AZ when his contract expired on 26 May 2009.[7][8]
