National Division Three North, to be known from September 2009 as National League 2 North, is the fourth level of domestic rugby union competition in Northern England. This league mostly contains amateur clubs, however they generally benefit from some good investment and playing infrastructures.
National 2 North is made up of teams from around the English Midlands and Northern England who play home and away matches throughout a winter season. Promotion and relegation decide the makeup of the league each season, with the top team automatically moving into National League 1; the runner-up plays in a one-off play-off with the runner-up of National League 2 South for promotion. Relegation is to either the Midlands 1 or North 1 leagues depending on where the team are based.
