Red Devil or Bulgeun Angma (붉은 악마) is the official supporting group for the Korea Republic national football team. This group is vociferous and dynamic. In Feb 13, 2007, Red devil officially announced that they will suspend any further activities.

[edit] Origin

A call from the inside among the fans came out that Korea needs a change in the culture of cheering the game to truly voice their presence and be able to send a clear message to the players of the teams which the fans support. The first and foremost field for this operation were the National Team games. The temporary name "Great Hankuk Supporters Club" was thus created on December 1995. The name "Red Devil" originates further back from 1983 FIFA World Youth Championship when the Korean youth team reached the semi-final. The international media dubbed the team and supporting fans "Red Furies". Through translation, it became "Red Devils" and selected in 1997 as the official name of the organization.

[edit] Cheering

Overseas Korean are also known for their loyalty to their soccer team, seen during the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the 2007 Asian Cup and throughout Southeast Asia. The cheering of Red Devil is noted for its very noisy sound. The most common cheering is Dae~han Minguk!! ("Republic of Korea", the country's name in its own language) by hitting musical instruments like the korean drum buk (drum). Korean supporters also cheer by singing famous korean folk song, Arirang.
