MV Ulysses Approaching Dublin Port.

MV Ulysses is a RORO car ferry currently owned and operated by Irish Ferries. The ship was launched in March 2001 at Aker Finnyards shipyard in Rauma, Finland and services the Dublin - Holyhead route. The naming ceremony was undertaken by swimmer Mairéad Berry. [1].

Ulysses is 209.2 metres in length and has a gross tonnage of 50,938. The Vessel stands 12 decks high, towering over other vessels at a height of 167 feet (51 metres) from keel to mast. She was the worlds largest car ferry in terms of vehicle capacity, but Stena Line's[2], Stena Britannica [3] and Stena Hollandica [4] are now of equal vehicle capacity after being enlarged in early 2007. (P&O Ferries sister ships Pride of Rotterdam and "Pride of Hull" remain the largest ferries, operating from Britain and Holland in terms of tonnage).

The Ulysses can carry 2,000 passengers and crew, 1342 cars and 240 trucks. She has 228 passenger berths. The interior of Ulysses is based around the Ulysses (novel) by James Joyce
