[edit] Renaissance Warfare
- Hale, J.R. (1985). War and Society in Renaissance Europe, 1450-1620. 2715 North Charles Street, Baltimore MD: Johns Hopkins. pp. 282. ISBN 0-8018-3196-2.
- Content:
- This book starts with the genesis of war in Renaissance Europe, the evolution of armies and warfare during the period, and then goes on to describing the effects of the recruitment of professional soldiers on society. It ends with three chapters on the impact of war on different aspects of the time.
- Reviews:
- "This book is very readable; it is full of epigrams and bon mots. It is also full of important and often provocative comments on European society during the Renaissance. No historian of the period should miss it or fail to recommend it to his students." - H.G. Koenigsberger, Times Literary Supplement
- Editor comments:
- An easy to read book that focuses on the evolution of warfare and society in Renaissance Europe, and not the actual battles. In that sense it is quite unique and very enjoyable. JonCatalan 21:29, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Spanish Civil War

- Content:
- The book covers almost every single weapon used by either side of the Spanish Civil War.
- Editor comments:
- This is the only major source on almost every single weapon used by both the Republicans and the Nationalists. Unfortunately, the vast scope of this book prevents explanations being as long as you would like them to be - at least if you're interested in writing an article on a specific weapon - but otherwise the reference is awesome. Even if it's not used as a main source, this book is definitely valuable. JonCatalan 21:29, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
