[edit] Introduction
The WikiProject Taiwan is a group that specifically deals with articles related to Taiwan. Our scope may overlap with WikiProject Japan and WikiProject China in some areas, but will be separate most of the time. This project will try to remain politically and racially neutral.
For more information on WikiProjects, please see Wikipedia:WikiProject and Wikipedia:WikiProject/Best practices.
[edit] Our scope
This WikiProject is intended as a politically-neutral, ethnically-neutral, and culturally-neutral platform for all contributors interested in increasing Wikipedia's coverage of Taiwan-related articles, including but not limited to: history (of all time periods), culture, people, military, geography, sports, science, politics and religion.
[edit] Our goals
- Create a body of articles that accurately depicts the history and culture of Taiwan and the Taiwanese people.
- Expand the number of articles regarding Taiwan and Taiwanese subjects.
- Highlight the situation of post-1949 Taiwan without running into POV issues.
- Add more English sources to existing Taiwan-related articles, using the <ref> element.
[edit] Participation
Project participants are listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Taiwan/Participants. Feel free to add your name there!
[edit] Departments
Departments are specific group of members who do the meta work. Tasks include keeping the project going, maintaining the project pages, related portals, assessing articles, participating in peer reviews, managing the consensus within the project and so on. The following is a list of departments within the WikiProject. WikiProject Members may not necessarily do only departmental tasks.
[edit] Assessment
The assessment department focuses on assessing the quality of Wikipedia's Taiwan-related articles. While much of the work is done in conjunction with the WP:1.0 program, the article ratings are also used within the project itself to aid in recognising excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work.
The ratings are done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{WPTAIWAN}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in a set of categories that serves as the basis for an automatically generated worklist.
[edit] Collaboration
Currently, there is no Wikipedia collaboration specifically for Taiwan.
[edit] Peer review
The peer review department conducts peer reviews of Taiwan-related articles on request; this helps to obtain ideas for further improvement by having contributors who may not have previously worked on particular articles examine them. Project members are invited to submit articles to the department in lieu of using the generic peer review process.
[edit] Photography
The photography department of this project aims to supply photos needed in Taiwan-related articles.
[edit] Translation
The translation department of the Taiwanese WikiProject aims to utilize high-quality non-English material related to Taiwan for the goals of the project. This includes both translating articles from and to other-language Wikipedias as well as assisting contributors with non-English sources.
